However, this phenomenon was possible through reconfigurations of political meanings of the past, in the field of contemporary issues of indigeneity, that now justify forms of governance of cultural diversity. Returning to the Mexican context and its frame in continental history, we will examine historiographical and political implications of these recent re-readings of the past. We will approach this issue by analyzing the tensions between historical revisionism of the indigenous movements of the 1990s and the formation of new modalities of official history favored by the emergence of an intercultural State policy which now operates in several levels. We will see the conflicting relations between the reappropriation of the past as a strategy of ethnic claims against its recovery as national heritage and ground of public policy and depoliticization mechanism of indigenous identities.http://journals.openedition.org/cm/2608Mexicointercultural policiesindigenous peoplehistorical revisionismofficial history
