The research objectives guided in contextualizing the streetball, relate it to the school context and identify if there is demand and utilization in physical education classes at a backwoods town. The research was divided into two parts: the first, theoretical, that used historical-sociological analysis to contextualize the streetball and establish possible relationships with the school; the second empirical, adopted a quantitative descriptive research, and used as a tool, questionnaire created specifically for this, in order to verify that the behavior of physical education teachers from Marechal Cândido Rondon, PR (N = 11) relative to streetball. Identified that streetball is a complex manifestation of sport and culture, re-signified by different ways of handling different institutions like media, investors and social organizations, and what is appropriate in different way by different agents. In the school context, can be presented as complementary content, because in addition to characterize as a manifestation of movement culture, presents possibilities for social critique discussion. In the scenario studied, teachers know and use a little of streetball as a school content and not perceive demand for its use. So, the streetball is not relevant in the present context researched, but can be considered important content, from the perspective of their social transformation, in scenarios where longer present.
