Summary:Imago (female) of Oriental species Rosapha obscurata de Meijere, 1916 (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) is redescribed. The morphology and biology of larva of this species are studied and described for the first time. Larvae live under bark of drying trunks. The similarity of imago and larvae of Oriental genus Rosapha Walker, 1859 and Palaearctic genus Maakiana Krivosheina, 1973 (= Takagimyia Nagatomi, 1975) is discussed.
