Description
Summary:More than fifteen years after the fall of the Taliban regime, the future of Afghanistan is being challenged. Security remains the main challenge for the reconstruction of the country. Aided by a perhaps too premature exit of the ISAF forces, the insurgency has not stopped gaining ground. Moreover, the fragility of state institutions punished by corruption, lack of economic expectations, traditional ethnic fragmentation, and poor social services are crucial obstacles to the country's stability. international community and Afghan authorities agree that Afghanistan's security is deeply connected to that of Central Asia; and vice versa. But, the geopolitical struggles between the great powers condition the improvement of the regional relations. Thus, the particular interests of the nations involved influence cooperation among the countries of the region. The text details the main issues of political, economic and social affairs in the country and points to some reflections on its uncertain future.
