Summary: | The reason for writing this paper is the omnipresence but also the impact of stress in our times. In order to
explain why stress has gained an important place in modern history, we need to understand the evolution of medical
science and technology, which over the last decades, have taken important steps towards establishing the biological
links between stress and human behaviour but also the political and cultural contexts that have endowed with meaning
and authority the scientific knowledge.
In the same time, we must concentrate on the interaction between the individual and his social and physical
environment from a holistic perspective, surpassing the interdisciplinary limits. The term ‘stress’ is used as a metaphor
for disasters at a macroeconomic level, when national economies are destabilized and recently it has been associated
with the idea of environmental damage. All natural disasters are environmental events, and their impact on human
beings (from a psychological, physical, economic and social point of view) can be seen as a major eco-stress. It’s
essential to understand man`s influence on the environment in order to review the attitude of communities that, under
the pretext of modernity, continue to exert destructive actions |
