Summary:This article discusses the focus on form in second language classroom acquisitions. Since the beginning of the 1990s, researchers in applied linguistics in the area of foreign language acquisition have reinitiated the discussion about the role of formal aspects of language in the acquisition process. I comment here on the position of some authors who follow the main ideas of the communicative approach but have not taken the so called "zero position" - they recognize that there can be a place for the focus on grammar in the second language acquition process.
