Summary:On February 24, 70 years were commemorated since the torpedoing and sinking of Struma. This ship was transporting 760 Jewish originating from Romania who intended to immigrate to Palestine. Struma left the Constanţa port in December 1941, and because she did not receive the authorization to anchor in Istanbul, was abandoned in the Black Sea waters in the end. On February 24 1942, a Soviet submarine torpedoed the ship.
