Summary: |
Schistosomiasis is still a health problem in endemic areas Napu, Poso, Central Sulawesi. Snail Oncomelania hupensis lindoensis, intermediate schistosomiasis is widespread in the region Napu. Eradication has been done by spraying chemical molluscicides. The using plant molluscicides need to be examined to controll the snail population. The phytochemical screening is important step to determine the composition of plants extract. The purpose of this study was to identify a class of chemical compounds in the methanol extract of J. curcas and R .communis seed. The study was conducted at the Center for Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine (B2P2TOOT) Tawangmangu in May 2009. The J.curcas and R.communis seeds extraction was done by percolation method using methanol solvent. Phytochemical screening test performed with a tube to detect the compound in J.curcas and R.communis seed extract. Screening followed by thin layer chromatography testing to ensure the screening results of the test tube. Extracts produced from each 500 grams of J.curcas and R.communis dry seed powder with 2500 ml of solvent was 250 ml and 200 ml methanol extract thick yellowish brown. Phytochemical screening with a test tube and thin layer chromatography showed the chemical components contained in the methanol extract of J.curcas and R.communis seed consist of alkaloids, saponins, cardenolin, bufadienol, and terpenes.
|
