Summary:Abstract. This paper aims to quantify from the technical, economical and sustainable point of view the theoretical and feasible potential of agricultural residues to generate heat through the production of solid biofuels in the form of briquettes. To this end, a methodology has been developed based on a statistical and geographical system of information on the quality and quantity of agricultural residues specific to the Northern Development Region of the Republic of Moldova. Results reveal that only 9% of the total residues can be used directly for the production of densified biofuels with a calorific value in accordance with ENPlus international standards.
