| Summary: | The present article is at the cutting edge of examining the essence of prayer calling (Adhan)
by analyzing its nature, conditions, pillars of prayer, and history. The inquiry should be
conducted because the Adhan is a religious teaching which characterizes Islam over the
world. The results of this investigation provides an empirical discussion about the essence
of Adhan and therefore, there will be no mistakes on the procedure of Adhan. The current
article presents novelty in the field of Maqasid Shariah since the author discusses the
Adhan from various perspectives. Furthermore, investigating the Adhan from the point of
Maqasid Shariah is crucial as a result of the fact that a case in shariah may have several
maqasid. As for the contribution, this article is highly expected to be “a wake-up call”
for future researchers in the field of shariah, particularly examining other elements beside
