Summary:In order to provide quantitative elements useful for the design of an update on the migration situation in the State of Mexico diagnosis, this paper analyzes the Survey on Migration to the United States of Mexico State (EMMEU) that was designed and implemented with to quantify and characterize migrants moving to the United States and within the country to identify the impact of this movement in their homes of origin. Concepts and ordinarily resident household who are regularly employed in population censuses and demographic surveys conducted by the National Institute of Geography of Mexico are used. Analytical dimension, design and survey sample is explained and concludes with the scope and limitations of EMMEU 2009.
