The author took the course book that was widely used by many English teachers at the state of Senior High School</em><em> </em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em> </em><em>Pamekasan</em><em>, </em><em>t</em><em>o</em><em>t</em><em>a</em><em>ll</em><em>y</em><em> </em><em>n</em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em>e schools.</em><em> </em><em>T</em><em>hen</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>de</em><em>s</em><em>criptive qualitative</em><em> </em><em>w</em><em>a</em><em>s</em><em> </em><em>u</em><em>s</em><em>e</em><em>d</em><em> </em><em>a</em><em>s research design.</em><em> </em><em>T</em><em>h</em><em>e</em><em> </em><em>pu</em><em>rposes analyzed what values were existed in reading texts and how reading texts had reflected the values.</em><em> </em><em>F</em><em>u</em><em>rthermore,</em><em> </em><em>t</em><em>h</em><em>i</em><em>s study</em><em> </em><em>u</em><em>s</em><em>e</em><em>d descriptive</em><em> </em><em>qu</em><em>a</em><em>l</em><em>i</em><em>t</em><em>a</em><em>t</em><em>i</em><em>v</em><em>e to analyze the findings. Based on the result, the author found 13 values which were inserted</em><em> </em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em> </em><em>1</em><em>7</em><em> </em><em>reading texts, but the rests were not; besides,  there were</em><em> </em><em>s</em><em>e</em><em>v</em><em>e</em><em>ral ways of reading texts</em><em> </em><em>t</em><em>o</em><em> </em><em>reflect values.</em><em></em></p>
