From July 2003 to April 2019 we deployed 47 times the assembling impression technique while treating 51 fixed implant-supported rehabilitations adjacent to fixed tooth-supported rehabilitation cases. Sixteen of the procedures were performed in the upper aesthetic area. The rehabilitation fit was assessed by: (1) parallel-technique periapical x-rays, (2) direct interface visual assessing with a magnifying glass and probing and (3) measuring the impression silicone layer at its maximal thickness area, all during the metal frame try-in Five assembling im-pressions were assessed as failures because the tooth-supported frames did not fit proper-ly. In all other 42 cases the tooth-supported frames fitted. The assembling impression technique is the saving solution for those who privilege the two-stage impression techni-que and for those situations where the one-stage impression technique has repeatedly failed. Although the fit assessment method is easily assailable due to its lack of accuracy it has been deployed anyway because on a daily basis we still lack a better fit assessment method.
