Description
Summary:The main engine is an enormous structure that consists of several moving parts (both rotating and reciprocating) transmitting to the propeller all the engine mechanical power in order to move the ship. Because all these main engine components are subject to different forces, in order to avoid damages due to excessive vibrations, the engine must be secured firmly to the ship. This article deals with propulsion engine mounting on foundations and their relationship to ship framing.
