Description
Summary:Abstract: Ethnic diversity and the reconstruction of identities: The Mokaná in the Atlantic district of ColombiaThe recognition of the right to cultural diversity in Colombia has helped to bring about the rise of communitarian organizational forms which call for ethnic identity and the recognition of its existence, regionally as well as socially. This has caused serious problems for the State now that a definition must be given as to who makes up this diversity, as well as which rights should be given to these groups. This article deals with one of the social phenomena that has come into being: reindigenization. On the basis of a case study, we look at the politics of culture as well as the culture of the political which is the result of the instrumentalization of an ethnic identity.
