| Summary: | Based on the contracts by public notaries, brotherhoods’ documents, scientific articles and monographs,we
propose to analyze the activity of Galician artists and journeymen in the Minho region in the 18th
and 19th centuries, assessing the social and cultural context of the host territories of this community of immigrants,
the integration processes in the artistic market (architecture and decorative arts), through the way they
were organized; typifying the works they carry out; defining their hierarchical position, the role they assume;
characterizing their clients and measuring the aesthetic result arising from the intervention of these artists.
This study will make it possible to clarify the importance of artistic Galician legacy in Minho art in the modern
era.
