Summary:The paper examines the problem of communicative tactics and strategies in tourist discourse. The purpose of the study is to identify linguistic and pragmatic features of communicative strategies and tactics in the texts of such Japanese tourist sites as JTB (Japan Tourist Bureau), H.I.S., and KNT (Kinki Nippon Tourist). The theoretical and practical significance of the research lies in the fact that the obtained results will not only expand the study of the problem of “communicative strategies and tactics”, but also will be useful as recommendations for producing tourist promotional materials for Japanese tourists. By using the linguistic description method based on such techniques as collection, method of continuous sampling, comparison, synthesis, processing, and classification of the research material, we the following Japanese-specific tourist discourse-specific tactics are identified: “guarantee of security”, “popularity”, “appealing to well-known brands”, and “comparison with the culture specific items known to the addressee”.
