Description
Summary:Dendroflora inventory is the main structural component of greenery in Chernivtsу city. Although the taxonomic composition of the dendroflora of Botanical gardens, parks and several public gardens of Chernivtsy has been studied in detail, the street and courtyard plantings of the city are studied fragmentary. The aim of our investigation is the analysis of taxonomic composition, origin, using in gardening and phytopathological state of arboreal plants in street and courtyard plantations of Chernivtsy city. Arboreal plants as component of urban green areas are the object of this study. The investigation has obtained the following results. As at the end of 2016 in street and courtyard plantations 170 species, 86 forms and hybrids of arboreal plants were used. These arboreal plants belong to 103 genus, 43 families, 31 orders and 2 divisions. 60.6 % of arboreal plants are introducents; 55 species among them are from Eastern Asia and 38 species are from Northern America. One hundred fifty eight taxons of arboreal plants are used in street plantings; out of them 10 species of aboriginal and 14 species of introduced arboreal plants are most wide spread in decorative street plantations (using singly and in groups). Fourty eight taxons of aboriginal and 164 taxons of introduced arboreal plants are cultivated in courtyard plantations. Arboreal plants of street and courtyard plantations are damaged by white mistletoe, bacteriosis (Fraxinus excelsior L.), by phytoplasma (trees of Salix alba 'Pendula') and mycosis. As a result of influence of urban adverse abiotic factors necrotic changes in leaves of arboreal plants in roadside street plantations are noted. Thus, we may conclude that street and courtyard plantations of Chernivtsy are enriched by arboreal introduced plants, most of them are from Eastern Asia and Northern America, as well aboriginal and introduced arboreal plants' hybrids. In protective street plantations aboriginal arboreal plants prevail but in decorative street plantations and courtyard plantations the number of introduced plants is growing. With the aim of improving the phytosanitary state of arboreal plants in Chernivtsy city further more detailed inspection and replacement of vulnerable species of woody plants by highly resistant is necessary to conduct.
