Description
Summary:The article presents the results of the research on the early school dropout based on the secondary analysis of NBS study data School-to-Work Transition from 2014–2015. The results obtained show that in the last decades among the 18-24 year olds the proportion of those who left the education system at an early age is around 21-22%. They have a low level of education (at most gymnasium) and no follow-up any form of training (formal or non-formal) in the last four weeks preceding the interview. About 20% of early school leavers have done so for economic reasons (including the inability to afford any school-related expenses or the need to earn money to support their families, etc.); about 15% said the lack of interest in school and 10,7% - the desire to start work, and every tenth because of the difficulties in learning. Based on the regression analysis, it was established that among the determinant factors of the early school dropout are residence in rural areas, precarious material (self-assessed) of the household and low level of education of the parents. As the age increases, the likelihood that the young person will no longer continue education and will remain with the low level of education.
