Description
Summary:The maronite nun Rifqâ was canonized in July 2001. She was blind and paralyzed and supported this terrible pain without any complaining. For the Catholic Church, she is today the holy patron of all the suffering people. The hagiographic books that relate her life show the Catholic Church’s conception of the pain and of the illness. The Catholic Church recognizes the competence of the physicians to take care of the diseased body, but the Church is the one who gives sense to the ill. In its eyes, the pain the holy Rifqâ bore liberated her soul from her body, and through her suffering, Rifqâ shared Christus’ Passion.
