Description
Summary:By starting from Claudio Rodríguez’s recordings, this paper suggests a way of listening voice in poetry pointing out some interesting aspects and problems that arise when establishing a new encounter not just between the poet’s voice and the listener, but also between the poet’s voice and the critic. The physical voice of a poet reading aloud his own poems re-projects and restructures constituting elements of poetic language (i.e. enjambment and caesura) making evident variations between published version and vocalized one. Moreover, it always has a specific tone or a particular inflection, an accent or a personal prosody that contrubute to the listener’s comprehention of the text. Through the vocal execution the text is re-evoked always in a different way within a specific time and space as well as re-given a new relationship with the subject who is listening and understanding it.
