Summary:<p class="Resumen">The Spanish writer Herminio Almendros, arrived to Cuba in 1939, exile, becuase of the Spanish Civil War. This article has as objtective to demonstrate his labour as biographer and as essayist; to make it, two of his publicated books was analyzed: <em>Nuestro Martí </em>and <em>Ideario Pedagógico</em>. We demonstrated that, beside his untiring labour as pedagogue, he was also an excellent biographer and essayist. Both of analyzed texts are present nowadays even though they were published more than 50 years ago; from here the necessity, even though they have been published before, of new editions to the contemporaneous readers can know this facets of the notable intellectual, and the particular contributions that he made to the literature.</p>
