Description
Summary:This study shows a case report of a male patient, 11 years and 2 months old, presenting Angle Class II malocclusion, severe overbite, severe Spee curve and perspective of balanced growth. After analysis of the patient¿s profile, the study casts and the cephalometric assessment, the option selected was the treatment with palatal disjunction, extraction of 4 premolars, intrusion of mandibular anterior teeth, according to the segmented arch technique. This technique consists of a sequence of orthodontic procedures based on mechanical principles that rule tooth movement, guided by force systems, providing a more reliable control, considering magnitude and force application site, location of resistance center and rotation for the application of the technique. In this context, the objective of this present study is to analyze this option of treatment of severe overbite, as well as its philosophy and mechanical principles.
