Ecuador has been among the three countries in South America with most cases of COVID-19, and 1,564 deaths registered until mid-May 2020. Hundreds of doctors, nurses and administrative personnel working in medical centers and hospitals have become positive cases of the disease, which has made it more difficult to care for patients in an emergency.
