Summary: | The study presents the origin and development of the military component of Hezbollah.
The issues of increasing combat capabilities, equipment and weapons, as well as the use
of the latest military technologies were discussed. Examples were given of the use of
Hezbollah troops in Lebanon in the July 2006 war and in the Syrian civil war. Against
this background, the question was formulated: What are the effects and consequences of
Hezbollah's military development in the face of the continuation of the Lebanese-Israeli
conflict? The analysis shows that the growth of Hezbollah's numerical and qualitative
potential is directly dependent on Iran. The accumulated arsenal of weapons, the combat
experience gained by the fighters, allows them to fire at Israel from hidden firing
positions and to conduct defensive battles in Lebanon. The Islamic Resistance
Movement, however, is not able to conduct regular combat with ground forces in Israel,
due to the lack of heavy weapons, aviation, and combat helicopters. It is possible to
conduct irregular military operations with the use of guerrilla warfare methods.
Hezbollah and its armed forces are a tool in Iran's hands, constituting a significant
element in the fight for the area of the so-called Shiite Crescent. The deployment of
troops on the border with Israel makes it possible to fight directly against this deadly
enemy of Iran. Therefore, the Iranian state will strive, despite economic problems, to
support the Party of God. The successful outcome of the war in Syria for Iran (keeping
Assad in power) allows the continuation of military action against Israel.
