Summary:The Colombian state handed over the administration of a portion of the eastern territories of the country to the community Compañía de María between 1914 and 1949. Most of the information that so far refers to missionary or evangelistic work and other aspects of its labor are unknown. Based on materials belonging to the religious community and those of public archives, the study deals with one of its most outstanding figures, Father Pedro Kok. In addition, the works of the Montfortians, their explorations in the national territory and the concrete works of Father Kok in Vaupés and his particular vision of indigenous life.
