Description
Summary:This year is the eight hundredth anniversary of Magna Carta Libertatum, the first document in English history to place limits on the power of the crown and to grant rights to his subjects. John, King of England, placed his seal on the manuscript in 1215, marking a historic event that eventually led to the recognition of citizens’ universal rights. To celebrate this anniversary, Magna Carta Rediscovered, a travelling exhibition visiting six locations in Kent, the Garden of England, is showing the fourteenth-century Faversham edition of this document.
