These changes often are the result of many years of research and development activities of certain individuals or organizations. At the organizational level, the aforementioned activities are integrated into projects in which the available financial, physical and human resources are engaged. The success of R&D projects mostly will depend on the performance of the managers who head them - project managers. They should: provide conditions for undisturbed research, take care of the project team and their interpersonal relationships, and at the same time pay attention to the financial and project timelines. Their task, therefore, is not easy at all. The aim of the research is to analyze the roles that project managers have in managing R&D projects. The research methodology included: a descriptive method and content analysis of available literature of reputed domestic and international authors in the field of project management.
