Description
Summary:In The Negroes, Genet tries to show how subjects can cross to the condition of the non-subject in challenging discourse with their peers. Subjects in the contemporary world have undergone a variety of damages. He shows why the subject with all its excitement, hate, jealousy and peccadillo places itself in such an unstable condition that the identity of the subjectivity leads to a high risk. Therefore Genet by offering multiple aspects of the subject (negroes with wax, the decision makers behind the stage, negroes with masks that have been turned to the board of whites and negroes that discoloration is prescribed to them) makes us face with alternative aspects of a labyrinthic discourse which ridicules the contrast of the black and the white and the authority and the dominant policy. The aim of this paper is to study Jean Genet’s The Negroes through discursive and semiotic approach to explain the conditions of the subjects crossing to Hyper-Subjectivity or Non-Subjectivity. Accordingly it clears that relations of power in the play Negroes are functions of different factors such as social structures, political symbols, ideological functions and phenomenology presence.
