Summary:The turning point of the Turkish Independence struggle is the declaration of the Amasya Memorandum. With the approval and signature of the high ranked officers about the declaration of the memorandum in Amasya, the memorandum invited Turkish people to struggle for the sovereignty and independence and to decide their destiny. So the basis of the Turkish struggle became a written docu-ment. The local organizations came together and the congresses which advocat-ed the national rights were held. The Erzurum congress that formed the basis of the Turkish Independence strug-gle and combined the national forces to direct national movement was held by the help of the memorandum. The statement often mentioned in the memorandum “The Independence of the Turkish Nation would be saved by the determination and the decision of the Nation itself” hand an effect on Sivas congress where the previous decisions were reinforced.
