Summary:Successful in cultivation require the use superior variety, however, the superior varieties should be adapted to specific agro ecological environment. Therefore the objective of the study was to test the adaptation and production of several chili varieties to upland agro ecology. This study was conducted in Cibeureum Village, Sukamantri Sub District, Ciamis District from May to October 2014. Randomized Block Design was applied in this study and the varieties of chili as a treatment. The varieties that were used as treatment are Malika, Jetset, Inco and Persada while Tanjung variety use as comparison, each variety was replicated five times. The results showed that there were differences in plant height, plant mortality and chili product (P < 0,05). Jetset variety has the highest plant height (138,4 cm), Malika variety has a highest plant mortality (21,68 percent), and the Inco variety has the highest chili production (14,10 ton per ha). This study indicated that Jetset, Inco and Persada are adapted to upland zone.
