It was a Spanish borderline city, in which goods from different origins were exchanged, and the governor had to constantly show his political and military authority.The study reveals the biography of Alonso Fajardo, his activity as governor, his trading interest with Japan and China, as well as his constant hostility against the Netherlands, who were expanding its force in East Asia.His inventory sheds light on the trade of artistic objects, such as Japanese lacquers, holding screens, Chinese textiles, precious stones from South East Asia and Filipino ivory objects as luxury goods.http://journals.openedition.org/e-spania/27950Alonso FajardogovernorManilaPhilippineslacquerholding screen
