But wars have not been prevented, and the United Nations has shown its inability to react, even in those situations where an unacceptable amount of suffering has occurred on various meridians of our planet. In situations when a prompt reaction was expected, this organization remained passive, and its reactions were reduced to the adoption of resolutions and documents that could not achieve the desired effects. The reason for this in most cases was the fact of opposing coming form some of the permanent members of the Security Council by using their "veto power". In this way, the Security Council, instead of being a bodie that should supposed to provide peace and security to the world, slowly turned into arena of conflict of interest of states with great powers. So it became clear over time, that this UN body not only contributed to the establishment of peace and security in the world, which should have been its primary role, but on the contrary, it becomes mute observer of globalinsecurity, wars and suffering that we are witnessing even today. For this reasons, but also because of the fundamental changes that the international community has suffered since the founding of the UN to the present day, there is an increasing number of countries that believe that this body must undergo a radical reform. In this paper, we have tried to point out some of the key critics that have been addressed to this body, as well as the suggestions regarding the way it should be organized in the future.https://scindeks-clanci.ceon.rs/data/pdf/0550-2179/2019/0550-21791902545G.pdfunited nationssecurity council reformpeace and security in the worldveto power
