Las protuberancias intercelulares pécticas (PIP) presentes en las células del mesofilo de especies neotropicales de Marattia fueron estudiadas con MEB. Morfológicamente se encontraron 3 tipos principales: verrugas, filamentos y conexiones pécticas. El uso de su variación morfológica con carácter taxonómico resulta de utilidad como complemento de otros rasgos del esporófito.<br>Intercellular pectic protuberances (IPP) found in mesophyll cells of neotropical species of Marattia were studied with SEM. The IPP were examinated to determine if they could provide diagnostic characters. Morphologically, three major types are described: pectic warts, filaments and connections (strands). The use of morphological variation with taxonomic character is useful as a complement of other sporophyte traits.
