Laboratory and clinical evaluation of the efficiency of stabilized fluoride toothpastes compared to ones without fluoride to prevent dental caries in students has been conducted. The evaluation of an index of stability in the composition of the fluoride toothpastes, the saturation concentration and prolonged action of ionized fluoride in the composition of the oral fluid has been done. The composition of components of care-products is not the one thing that attracts attention, but also the stability of the components in oral fluid. Caries enamel resistance can be maintained for decades due to admission of saliva mineral carriers. Permeability of enamel varies with age and especially dramatically decreases at the age of 20-30. So, permeability of tooth enamel depends on time of tooth contact with oral fluid. Thus, maintaining saliva mineral balance with care-products that contain stable ionic compounds in their composition may counteract carious decalcification of enamel in young age. From a practical point of view, stabilized fluoride compounds and their anti-caries characteristics in oral fluid are of the most interest among the known compounds. Methods: In order to achieve this goal, with the usage of laboratory and clinical research methods in vivo and in vitro, we were studying the caries-preventive measures of three toothpastes with stabilized stannous fluoride «Blend-a-med Pro-expert» from 0.454% SnF2 plus 0.077% NaF (1450 ppm fluoride), and compared them with toothpaste with sodium fluoride 0.32% NaF (1450 ppm fluoride) “Blend-a-med with active fluoride” and toothpaste without fluoride “President unique”. Research of toothpaste fluoride activity in vitro with the usage of fluoride-specific ion-indicating electrode helped us to determine the level of fluoride released from the fluoride containing toothpastes. Moreover, it is indicated the level of oral fluid satiation by fluorine and its concentration in oral fluid after cleaning tooth by fluorine containing toothpastes such as “Blend-a-med Pro-expert”, “Blend-a-med with active fluorine” and non-fluorine toothpaste “President” in vivo with the help of ion-indicating electrode ELIS -131F and ion meter EV-74. Results: Fluoride is the most common caries preventive toothpaste component. However, its realization of caries is possible only due to presence of fluorine in toothpaste in free (active, ionized) state or condition. In clinical and laboratory testing caries-preventive efficiency the toothpaste “Blend-a-med Pro-expert” had high fluoride saturation of saliva but “Blend-a-med with active fluoride” had more prolonged action of releasing active fluoride ions to the saliva. Conclusions: “Blend-a-med Pro-expert” and “Blend-a-med with active fluoride” toothpastes provide a high level of saturation of oral liquid with active fluorine and therefore are able to provide pronounced caries-preventive effect due to the formation of a large number of fluorapatite compounds on the surface of layers of enamel which are more resistant to acid dissolution.https://dental-almanac.org/index.php/journal/article/view/70dental caries, stannous fluoride, stabilized fluoride, toothpaste, prevention, saliva, the concentration of fluoride.
