Description
Summary:This article examines the works of Antonio Bonet that were created in La Solana. El Parador and the Berlingieri house, La Rinconada, Booth, and the Four Houses were an important contribution to architecture in Uruguay and in the region during the particular era. This was concreted when the first two buildings mentioned were included in Henry Russell Hitchcock´s Latin American Architecture since 1945 (1955). This work shows that Bonet´s contribution reached places as far away as the south of Brazil, both tangibly in the form of Dieste´s brick vaults, the concept from which originated with the Berlingieri house, and implicitly in Fresnedo Siri’s work.
