Passerelles numériques (Digital Gateway) has an ambitious goal – to find students from impoverished backgrounds a long-lasting career in the information technology (IT) industry. Currently located in Southeast Asia – namely Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam – Passerelles numériques has developed and implemented a program that prepares students with the knowledge and the skills necessary to work in the industry. The program, lasting 2-3 years depending on location, consists of IT education, English courses, business life training, and values formation. The students graduate from the program fully prepared and motivated to take their IT careers to the next step. The results of Passerelles numériques have been inspiring. Students who have graduated have been doing well in their jobs and their companies are happy with their work. However, some challenges and obstacles still remain.
