Summary: | <p>Density (ρ) and viscosity (η) and Ultrasonic velocity (v) of some substituted pyrimidines viz. Ethyl 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-2-thioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate,Ethyl-4-(4-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate , Ethyl 4-(furan-2-ylmethyl)-6-methyl-2-thioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate , Ethyl 4-(furan-2-ylmethyl)-6-methyl-2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate , Ethyl 4-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-6-methyl-2-thioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate have been measured in ethanolic solution of different concentrations(0.1%,0.05%,0.025%,0.0125%,1.0%,0.5%,0.25%,0.125%).</p> <p>Various acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility(β<sub>ad</sub>),intermolecular free length(L<sub>f</sub>) , relaxation time (Ʈ)),free volume (V<sub>f</sub>),internal pressure (Π<sub>i</sub>),acoustic impedance (Z), surface tension(S), attenuation(a/f<sup>2</sup>),Rao’s constant(R),molar volume(Vm), cohessive energy(CE) of these solutions were computed from the experimental velocity, viscosity and density measurements. The changes in the acoustical properties nave been used to interpret various molecular interactions in these solutions. Solute solvent interaction seems to be significant in system studied.<strong></strong></p>
