By utilizing salicylic acid (SA) as the catalyst, the reaction of aryl aldehydes, 2-naphthol, and acetamide/benzamide/urea/thiourea were successfully performed, and 1-amido/thioamidoalkyl-2-naphthols were obtained in good to high isolated yields.
