In order to do so, the argument builds on the findings of an empirical research conducted among inhabitants of a private condominium who were rehoused in social housings in the Paris region. With regards to this, the author identifies the different residential trajectories and explores how inhabitants have considered each other, how they have perceived their relocation based on their professional occupations, on their former residence location, on the gender-based division of roles within couples. This article argues that these variables caused stratification and classification processes within the working class. Consequently, the objectification of actors from the working-class is necessary to understand why housing policy initiatives have been perceived differently in neighborhoods.http://journals.openedition.org/sociologies/11996working-classsgender-based rolesresidency statusprofessional statusclassificationurban regeneration |
