Description
Summary:The article presents three new inscriptions found during archaeological field surveys conducted by Prof. Dr. Neşe Atik in the ancient city of Tripolis in 2002. Located in the Yenicekent township in the Buldan District of Denizli province (in the upper Menderes valley south east of Lydia, on the border of Caria), Tripolis saw its most flourishing period under the Roman Empire. It is not certain whether the site was founded by the Seleucids or Attalids or as an Ionian colony. The first inscription is probably a topos inscription related to the Attalos phyle, the second probably belongs to a pedestal and the third is related to a construction project conducted by Stephanephoros Dionysodoros, son of Theodoros.
