Description
Summary:The article provides results of the research on Turkish satirical qit’as, created by poets of the 15th through the 18th centuries. Satirical qit’as are analyzed in the synchronic and diachronic aspects. The author provides a classification of the satirical qit’as depending on the object of criticism in them, and observes the changes in every group of motifs. In qit’as of the first group poets satirize faults of the surrounding world and society, in the second group, poets describe their own negative features, in the third group satire is aimed at the author’s enemies. The qit’as criticizing the world and society as a whole as well as the ones describing the poet’s enemies underwent the deepest changes. From the 17th century onwards, in these two groups of qit’as Turkish poets tried to cover serious social issues of their time, making their poems full of everyday details and addressing them not only to their personal enemies but also to higher officials of their time. Along with that, the topics of the qit’as where poets address their own personal faults remain unaffected as time goes by.
