Description
Summary:The lecture provides information about the etiology and pathogenesis of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and genetic susceptibility to its development. The most recent international diagnostic criteria for APS and its variants have been reported. This syndrome can affect multiple organ systems depending on localization of thrombosis; therefore, nowadays the problem of APS is multidisciplinary. Clinical manifestations of APS are rather general (thrombosis of different localization); thus, the diagnosis can be verified only in the case of presence of antiphospholipid antibodies. The differential diagnosis of APS is discussed.
