Description
Summary:It is regard to establish connections between socio-cultural undulations, inspired by the inexorability of the time and representations that arise from the human imaginary in the cult of transcendental entities like vampires, throw to the profane origins, to the specter of the prohibitions. The conceptualizations about the evil meet in the artistic expressions the ways to define the settings and the intrinsic features related to the beasts judged as evil creatures. In the new millennium, to the postmodern aura and to the auspices of the scientific and technological developments, the vampire mystique is still alive in the Western tradition. In the perspective of philosophers as Barthes (1980, 2002), Lacan (1995), Frege (1978), Davidson (1984), among others, it is proposed a way to discuss the success of the vampire in the transition to the new millennium. KEY WORDS: Myths; evil representations; vampire culture.
