This study was carried out with the aim of improving occupational health and safety from the legislative and facility level in the study area. Many studies globally have classified hotel housekeepers among the high risk group based on the International Labor Standards on Occupational Safety and Health. To address these concerns, the study explored qualitatively the risk and hazard factors affecting work safety of housekeeping staff of budget hotels in the Eastern Region of Ghana with the aim of bridging the knowledge gap and to improve on management practices of such injuries. The study is guided by a working model showing the hierarchy of controls adapted from (NIOSH) The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. A total of 61 managers were drawn from 182 budget hotels using purposive sampling where judgmental sampling technique was used to select the participants. In-depth Interview schedules was used to collect data from key study informants comprising managers and supervisors. The hotels were also sampled by employing the simple random lottery method to select one – third out of the total population of hotels in the Eastern Region. Methodological triangulation using an in-depth interview schedule was used to collect data. https://journals.adrri.org/index.php/adrrijafs/article/view/701management, health hazards, work safety, budget hotels, occupational safety and health
