El ser humano siempre ha interactuado con el medio ambiente en el que se desarrolla con el fin de poder satisfacer necesidades básicas de supervivencia, como los son el agua, la alimentación, el abrigo y el refugio. Conforme ha pasado el tiempo, esta interacción ha venido acompañado de cambios en el entorno, los cuales no siempre han sido positivos y que han puesto al ser humano en situaciones de vulnerabilidad a eventos naturales o artificiales de riesgo.
