Description
Summary:AbstractIntroduction: Studies have related biochemical changes in the incidence ofcardiovascular diseases, and a program of water aerobics is showing as an ad-juvant to improve these conditions. Objective: To identify the effect of a trainingprogram in exercises made inside the water (aqua aerobics) on the lipid profileof postmenopausal women. Methods: Thirty-three women were divided intoexperimental group with 22 volunteers who went aqua aerobics training, andcontrol group with 11 volunteers who did not perform any systematic training. Results: The results of the experimental group, pre- and post-test showed areduction in the variables LDL, triglycerides and total cholesterol. A decreasein HDL, LDL and total cholesterol was observed in the control group. After theintervention, a reduction in triglycerides and VLDL was also observed in bothgroups. However, there were found no significant differences in the variablesin this study. Conclusion: We conclude that aerobic training in aqua aerobicspromoted a reduction in the lipid profile of postmenopausal women.
