Description
Summary:Since the year 2000, Bolivia experiments a period of increasing political and social unrest, that culminated, at the moment, with the demision of the former president Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada. Those events are the manifestation of the crisis of the «pacted democracy», inaugurated in 1982, whose diferent elements are mentioned before a detailed acount of the events of september-october 2003 is given. Finally, a broader contextualisation of the present situation is proposed in relation with the main demographic, economic and socio-political trends that transformed bolivian society during the last decades, opening the way, in particular, to original manifestations of ethnopolitics.
