Combining defense, security and diplomacy which aims to create a concerted power is always a strategy to build and protect our nation. During the war of national liberation as well as the past reform period, Vietnam has combined these elements to make glorious revolutionary outcomes. Nowadays, combining defense, security and diplomacy remains a method to create an overall strength for building and protecting the country. In this article, the writer focuses on researching of the Party’s perception of combining defense, security and diplomacy since the 7th Congress of the Party as well as assesses the reality of combining all these areas. Based on this, proposals for basic directions to deal with this relatlionship in building and protecting the country in the current condition.
