Summary:Correct implant positioning and mechanical alignment are crucial for long-term survival of the total knee prosthesis. Imageless navigation can improve the femoral and tibial component position in the sagittal and coronal planes, as well as the overall lower limb mechanical axis. However, there are pitfalls related to the imageless computer navigation systems in total knee arthroplasty. We need to know these pitfalls and weight against the benefits of this new technology.
